Art Supplies FAQs
Where can I get reliable advice on which supplies to use?
Art supply stores will often try and sell you on a top brand or product, and that may be the best option but not always. Before setting foot in an art supply store go online and do some research. Online communities of artists can offer great ideas and many will be able to recommend what works best for them. Taking art classes is also a great way to be introduced to the proper materials for a specific medium.
I don’t like to draw; does this mean I won’t like painting?
No! In fact many painters will admit that their drawing skills aren’t what they should be. Painting gives an artist more creative freedom and allows for more interpretative pieces.
How can I get my child to start enjoying art?
Start young and don’t expect masterpieces. Even toddlers can enjoy scribbling on paper, just be sure to supervise them. As they grow older offer them different options as far as medium goes and note which ones they seem to excel at. Praise their art often and display their pieces where they can be enjoyed by the whole family and soon you will have a little Picasso on your hands.
